Paul Chamberlain is a nutrition consultant and sports nutritionist based in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. Paul has an MSc in applied sport and exercise nutrition and supports both elite and amateur athletes in a variety of sports. As a CNHC, NTCC and BANT registered nutritional therapist Paul has also provided general nutrition consultancy for over 10-years. The combination of general nutrition alongside the latest sports nutrition principals ensures that long-term health and immediate performance needs are addressed.
With practical experience of physiological testing Paul is able to liaise closely with exercise physiologists in transforming test data into practical advice for athletes. Paul is qualified to provide ISAK Level 1 Anthropometry, which is invaluable in assessing body composition changes due to diet and training interventions. Recently Paul provided performance nutrition support at the Jason Floyd elite golf academy in Sotogrande, Spain, with individual consultations, group sessions and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in developing both teenage and adult elite athletes in golf. Paul also provides nutrition support to individuals in elite tennis and elite squash, in addition to numerous amateurs in a variety of sports.
Paul is an enthusiastic and energetic speaker who has lectured extensively in the UK and around the world. He is a regular guest lecturer on two nutrition degree courses and is able to communicate clearly to a wide variety of audiences, whatever their level of knowledge. Paul is also former technical director for a major food supplement manufacturer, where he gained valuable experience of the supplement market. He is also familiar with anti-doping requirements in elite sport.
Paul ensures that he is up to date with the latest sport science and nutrition research through regular attendance of seminars and lectures, and reading relevant scientific journal papers. Paul’s integrated approach is always to impart knowledge with a view to clients eventually becoming self-sufficient in understanding their performance and general nutrition needs, and how these can be met through appropriate food choices.
Paul is part of the Total Golf Conditioning team, which provides biomechanics (3D analysis), strength and conditioning, physiotherapy and performance nutrition services to elite and amateur golfers in South East England.
Paul is also an Associate Tutor for DYMONDstrength Limited, the UK’s leading training provider for fitness professionals, sports coaches, PE teachers and students.
Paul is a guest lecturer for the Institute for Optimum Nutrition and the Centre for Nutrition Education and Lifestyle Management. He also writes for various publications including Functional Sports Nutrition Magazine, Nutrition Practitioner, and Total Sports Nutrition Magazine.
